Named after his mother, Carmen Steffens was created in 1993 by businessman Mario Spaniol. Accustomed to working in the tannery industry and noticing a gap in the market for quality leather, Mr Spaniol founded the company Couroquímica.

Located in Franca, São Paulo Couroquímica exports raw material to Italy, Spain, Japan and China. The leather is exported and used for production by other high end labels Timberland and Hugo Boss.

Expanding every year Carmen Steffens consolidates itself as one of the most desired brand in the International fashion world. With over 180 stores worldwide and 200 in Brazil, the company is becoming increasingly recognized throughout the world.

Carmen Steffens’s brother label, Raphael Steffens caters for the male clientele. Offering a wide variety of styles from dress shoes to casual sneakers, Raphael Steffens products are made for style and comfort. A new addition to the family is CS Teen, which evidently offer unique and stylish shoes and handbags for girls aged 8 to 15.

Recently in 2011 Carmen Steffens reached a higher status in the fashion world, opening a concept store on Oscar Freire Street, at São Paulo, a well know place for luxury brands.
